Visits from AI, at the bottom of AI visibility, counts the people who clicked a link in an AI assistant's answer and landed on your site: how many in the last 28 days, from which assistant, and the pages they landed on. It reads them from your Google Analytics or Plausible, so it shows once you've connected one in Settings › Search & analytics.

Visits from AI: the total for the last 28 days with a 12-week trend, each assistant's visits, and the pages they land on, with the ones CitedSEO wrote or changed marked

What it shows

  • Visits from AI, last 28 days: the total, with this week's visits under it and a line of the last 12 weeks. When this week is up on the same week a month ago, it says so. It also says which tool the numbers come from.
  • Each assistant with its visits: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot. An assistant that sent nobody isn't listed.
  • Pages they land on: your top 10 pages by visits from AI in the last 28 days. A page CitedSEO wrote is marked Written, and one it changed is marked Changed; point at the mark to see the day.

The 28 days run up to the last day CitedSEO has read. Days under three days old are read again, since your analytics may still be counting them.

Why it's a floor, not the full count

A visit counts only when your analytics can tell it came from an assistant, by where it came from. Point at Visits from AI, last 28 days and it says so: "A floor, not the full count: ChatGPT’s app often hides where a visit came from, and Google’s AI answers count as normal Google search."

Pointing at Visits from AI, last 28 days, which says it's a floor, not the full count

So the real number is likely higher, and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode aren't counted at all. Watch the trend over weeks rather than one week's number.

Before anything shows

  • Nothing connected: the section says See visits from AI assistants and links to Settings › Search & analytics. See Connect Google Analytics or Plausible.
  • Just connected: it says Reading your last 16 months of visits while CitedSEO reads them for the first time. After that it reads them again once a day.
  • No visits yet: it says "No visits from AI assistants in the last 28 days. They show here as they come in."
  • Signed out: if the tool you connected stops letting CitedSEO read your visits, the section says Reconnect Google Analytics (or Plausible), linking to Settings › Search & analytics, with the visits already read still shown under it. New visits pause until you reconnect there.

If both tools are connected, the numbers come from Google Analytics, since the two count differently.

In your reports

A report counts visits from AI assistants over the dates you pick, against the stretch just before them. See Build, download and share a report.

How it fits with the rest of AI visibility

The rest of the page shows whether assistants name and cite your site when asked your questions. Visits from AI shows whether people then click through to it, from any question, not only the ones CitedSEO asks.
