Settings › Your pages lists every page CitedSEO found on your site, and how reading each one went. It's there so you can check CitedSEO read the right pages; there's nothing to change on it. CitedSEO reads all of these pages but only ever changes the articles it wrote itself, which are the ones in Articles.

How CitedSEO finds your pages

When you add your site, CitedSEO lists its pages from the sitemaps your site names (or /sitemap.xml), plus a map of the site that adds what they missed. If you connect WordPress, its published posts and pages are listed too.

It leaves out pages that aren't worth reading: pages on another address than your site's own, addresses with a query string, files, sign-in, cart and search pages, feeds, tag and author pages, and second pages of a list. Up to 5,000 pages are listed, most important first: your home, pricing, product and about pages, then the pages with the most Search Console clicks, then the newest.

CitedSEO reads up to 500 of them, in that order. The rest stay listed as Not read yet.

What the list shows

Each row is a page's path and title, which you can press to open the page, with how reading it went and when it was last read. Article beside the date means the page is an article: a WordPress post, or a page whose own markup says it's an article. The count at the top says how many have been read.

Pick a tab to see the pages in one state, or type in Search pages to find one by its path or title. Tabs only show for states some page is in.

TabWhat it means
ReadCitedSEO read the page.
Read, no article in itThe page answered, but had almost no text CitedSEO could read, usually because it's drawn by script. The reason is under it.
Couldn’t readThe page gave an error or a bot check answered instead. It's tried again, up to three times, and the reason is under it.
Moves to another addressThe page redirects. Where it goes is beside it.
GoneThe page answered "not found".
Not read yetListed, but not read.

If the list is empty, CitedSEO hasn't listed your pages yet: it starts when you add your site, and each page shows as it's found.

Keeping it current

While your site is on your plan, CitedSEO checks it once a day. It lists your pages again, reads new ones, and reads a page again when your sitemap or WordPress says it changed, up to 100 a day. A page that drops out of the listing is checked to see if it's gone or has moved. Before CitedSEO leans on a page, such as one it's about to link to from an article, it reads it again if its copy is more than 30 days old.

Which pages are CitedSEO's

A page is CitedSEO's when one of its articles is live there: at that address, or as that WordPress post. They're the live articles in Articles, and Topic clusters marks them Written or changed by us.

  • Every other page is only read. CitedSEO uses them to understand your business, to find pages to link to from its articles, and to see how your pages link to each other. It never edits, redirects or deletes them.
  • Changes are only to CitedSEO's articles. Every kind of opportunity except a content gap works on an article CitedSEO wrote, so a page you wrote yourself never gets an update, a new title or new links in it from CitedSEO.
