Connect Google Analytics or Plausible
Connect the analytics your site already uses, and CitedSEO counts the visits that come from AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity, page by page.

Open Settings › Search & analytics and press Connect beside Google Analytics or Plausible, under Analytics. Google Analytics connects through your Google account; Plausible needs a Stats API key. Either way, CitedSEO only reads which visits came from AI assistants and the pages they landed on, and shows them in AI visibility › Visits from AI. It never changes anything in your analytics.

Google Analytics
- Open Settings › Search & analytics.
- Press Connect beside Google Analytics.
- Sign in to Google with the account that can see your site's Google Analytics property.
- On Google's page, leave the Google Analytics box ticked and allow access. Google also lists Search Console: leave it ticked too if you've connected it.
- You come back to Settings › Search & analytics, and the app says "Google Analytics is connected".
CitedSEO picks the Google Analytics 4 property with a web stream for your site's address, with or without www.
Google Analytics and Search Console share one Google account for each site. Connecting with a different Google account replaces the first one, so use an account that can see both.
Plausible
- In Plausible, go to Account settings › API keys and make a Stats API key. Copy it.
- In CitedSEO, open Settings › Search & analytics and press Connect beside Plausible.
- Check the Domain in Plausible (it's filled in with your site's domain), paste the Stats API key and press Connect Plausible.

CitedSEO asks Plausible for your visits before it saves the key, so a wrong key or domain is caught straight away. It reads Plausible at plausible.io, so a Plausible you host yourself can't be connected.
After you connect
CitedSEO reads your last 16 months of visits from AI first. Until that's done, Visits from AI says "Reading your last 16 months of visits". After that, it reads them again once a day. See Visits from AI assistants.
If both are connected
You can connect both. They count visits differently, so CitedSEO shows the numbers from Google Analytics when both are connected, and from Plausible otherwise. Visits from AI says which one the numbers come from.
If it didn't connect
Reconnect or disconnect
If Google or Plausible stops letting CitedSEO read your visits, its card shows Reconnect, and the sidebar's Needs you list says "Google signed me out" or "Plausible turned my key away". For Plausible, make a new Stats API key and enter it.
Disconnect stops CitedSEO reading that tool. The visits it has already read stay. Disconnecting Google Analytics keeps Search Console connected.
